NOT On The Road

It has been a very busy start to the year, and normally that would involve working races and show car appearances all over the country. However, these past few months have actually been spent at home working between the GAINSCO Auto Insurance® Dallas headquarters and at the new race shop, along with running errands, race cars, and parts all over DFW. Speaking of that, in a rare scenario while moving race shops from Lewisville TX to Denton TX, we had three generations of Red Dragons together in one place at the same time, and it was pretty awesome to see! I have been very busy the past few months; see what else I have been doing below!

GAINSCO Auto Insurance® and the show car program pitched in to make the new Bob Stallings Hyundai Grand Opening a very special event.

At the Dallas office we had a proper GAINSCO Auto Insurance® send off for our longtime General Counsel John Daniels who was with us for 10 years! The books are actually a cake.

In between helping move to a new shop I helped with a little pre-test fitting as a stand-in for Jon Fogarty in his new No.99 GAINSCO GTS Hyundai Genesis race car.

The biggest project of the year for me has been the design and building of a new racing simulator featuring our new race car and livery. Bob Stallings was instantly addicted!

Sweet Rides

While doing a little testing on the No.99 GAINSCO GTS Hyundai Genesis show/track car we found ourselves lined up with the car known simply as Godzilla, a Nissan GT-R (NASA race spec)!

Doesn’t look like much but this second generation Shelby Mustang GT500 at Fischer Motorsports in Garland TX holds the land speed record for fastest Mustang. The frame is getting reinforced to try for up to 220mph.

Good Eats

It is a tradition I love even though I am not Irish, but I have to have Corned Beef and Cabbage on St. Patty’s Day! I had mine at the Fillmore Pub in downtown Richardson TX

This is “The LA Burger” from LA Burger, a Korean fusion burger joint in Carrollton TX. It has a fried egg on top of a beef patty with cheese, kimchi, and teriyaki sauce…and is delicious

My annual tradition of going on at least one snowboarding trip a season. This year was a last ditch effort to keep the streak alive with a day trip to Flagstaff AZ while in town visiting my family in February.

Hanging At Home

As you may know from previous “On The Road’s” I of course, love mountain biking, and there are amazing local trails here in DFW. This tire swing is a feature of Horseshoe trail on the south side of Grapevine lake.
