Fast Facts:

Mid-Ohio Race Winners:  The GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing team has a storied past at Mid-Ohio, including team owner Bob Stallings.  Stallings won the SCCA Formula Atlantic National Championship at Mid-Ohio in 2004.  The SCCA Runoffs are the pinnacle of amateur racing in the United States.  Jon Fogarty’s success in Sports Cars at Mid-Ohio includes five pole positions, two victories and three third place podium finishes.  The team made nine starts from 2005-2013 and started inside the top five in all nine and finished in the top five in six of nine races.

Fogarty’s Perspective…The Highs: “So far, I would have to say our podium at COTA has been the high point of the season.  Having all the guests present for the podium celebration was very special.  Of course being on the podium is nice, but having everyone who supports you and makes the program possible celebrating there with you is about as good as it gets.”

The Lows: “The low point would have to be our race weekend at Mosport.  We were just so far off the front running pace with an ill-handling car…it was just no fun at all.  At least when I crashed out at Long Beach I was fast; at Mosport there is not much we could come away from the weekend with to be happy about.  All the McLarens struggled at Mosport, but we struggled the most and that comes down to me and my engineer just not being able to work through the setup quickly enough on a race weekend.  Anyhow, I am glad it’s behind us.”

Looking Ahead: “I do believe our high point is still ahead.  I know what the team is capable of and I am looking forward to showing that.  I am looking forward to all the events ahead; each one is an opportunity to compete and improve and the challenge of racing in a competitive field which is something the entire team enjoys- even if the results are not exactly what we want.  Being on the West coast makes the final three race swing nice, it’s easy travel and I will be able to bring family to a few events.  This, and the fact that they are all great tracks is something to look forward to.”

Circle of Champions: GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing congratulates and welcomes five new team members at Mid-Ohio:  GAINSCO Auto Insurance’s “Circle of Champions,” Diana DeSilva, Gregg Kibler, Rochelle Sutcliffe, Munira Adenwalla, Gwen Mesta and Jessica Romack won the trip for their outstanding performance in exemplifying the core values of GAINSCO Auto Insurance.

Bob Stallings, Team Owner: “Very anxious to get back to racing and Mid -O is just the place to get back to it.  I won the 2004 Runoffs there in my Atlantic Car and Jon has had many poles and wins at Mid-O. It's a terrific test for both car and driver and there is particular benefit in getting a good qualifying lap in. Many of the courses we run on are difficult to pass on and Mid-O is certainly one of them.  The racing fans are always plentiful at this legendary track and more than a few are Red Dragon Fans, to be sure. Our debut season at PWC and in the McLaren has been a challenging one for the team, with only one podium to show for our efforts, so far. But Mid-O has given us some great finishes and we are hopeful for another one this weekend.”

Jon Fogarty: “I love racing at Mid-Ohio.  It’s a track that really suits my driving style and I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy a lot of success there throughout my career, especially while driving the Red Dragon.”
