Fast Facts:

On Jon’s Bucket List: Jon Fogarty has raced at Road America since the late 1990s. He’s won at nearly every track in America and raced at the most famous tracks around the world. He’s a four-time American Champion, holding two Atlantic titles and two Sports Car titles, yet somehow, a victory at Road America has eluded him. “Winning at Road America is definitely something that is very important to me. It’s one of those things that stands out in my mind…something I must achieve. I’ve had great cars and great races there. It’s my kind of track, I love that place, yet somehow, even in my Championship seasons…it hasn’t happened. It certainly is the greatest road course in America and a win there would satisfy what’s missing for me,” said Fogarty.

The Atlantic Car VS. The McLaren: Fogarty discusses the difference between racing an Atlantic open wheel car to the Sports Car at Road America: “All of my early experience at Road America came driving an open wheel car there. The approach now, with the McLaren 650S GT3, is completely different. The Atlantic car had a huge amount of downforce and corresponding drag, so the corners were so much different. In the McLaren you arrive at those corners so much quicker because of the horsepower, and then they become real corners with heavy braking and quick acceleration. In the open wheel car, the approach is more of a flow; for example, turn 7 really isn’t a turn because you are flat and you just turn the wheel. In the McLaren it will be a challenging turn because you have to slow the car so much more to make the turn and then very quickly accelerate out of it. I almost have to undo everything I know and completely re-adjust my approach. Fortunately, I know the track with my eyes closed, so I have been preparing mentally for the adjustment.”

Circle of Champions: GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing welcomes five new team members at Road America. GAINSCO Auto Insurance’s “Circle of Champions,” Cory Grimes, Shannon Wallace, Lindsey Edington, Amanda Cardenas and Sarahi Leyva won the trip to Road America for their outstanding performance in exemplifying the core values of GAINSCO Auto Insurance.

Jon Fogarty: “Road America is always one of my favorite events of the year. The fans in Wisconsin are Racers and they always turn out. They have a great ticket this year with the IndyCar and Pirelli World Challenge races. Road America is just an awesome track. My favorite section is the Carousel; the turn goes forever, it’s unique and then feeds into the Kink which is fast and extra sketchy and then the run through the trees and Canada Corner is awesome. It’s a driver’s track for sure, tricky and fast, everything you could ask for.”

Bob Stallings, Team Owner: “I’m very excited to get back to racing, especially at Road America. It's a terrific track, full of energetic fans and a real test for the Racers. Naturally B.O.P. (balance of performance) gives the cars with power and straight line speed an interesting vantage point at the front of the grid, but that can't spoil the fun for all of us lucky enough to race at this beautiful facility. I also just want to say how much we are keeping the two drivers injured at Lime Rock in our hearts and prayers at GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing. We hope for healing and recovery for them and courage and strength for their families.”
