Lime Rock Test: Thunderstorms in the morning and a dry afternoon provided the GAINSCO crew with plenty of diversity during the promotor’s test day on Tuesday at Lime Rock Park. Fogarty and his engineer John Ward welcomed the varied conditions as it allowed the team to develop a setup for wet conditions and continued development of the McLaren 650S GT3 in the dry. “We rolled off with a setup that felt pretty good. The weather changed our test plan a bit, but we definitely took advantage of it with a solid run in the wet,” commented Jon Fogarty.
GAINSCO Auto Insurance® Recognized: GAINSCO Auto Insurance was recently named a Top Workplace by South Florida’s Sun-Sentinel. GAINSCO was named as one of the Top 35 companies in its size category. Administered by Workplace Dynamics, the Top Workplaces program identifies organizations that excel at organizational health and workplace engagement. This distinction is determined by an employee feedback survey that took place in 2015.
Previously at Lime Rock Park: Jon Fogarty and his crew have plenty of experience racing at the legendary park. The team competed there while racing in the Rolex Sports Car Series from 2009-2013. Fogarty started third in four of five races there and finished on the podium once (2012). He scored a victory at Lime Rock early in his career while racing in the Barber Dodge Pro Series in 2000.
Jon Fogarty: “It’s neat to be a part of this Memorial Day weekend event at Lime Rock. It’s a big event here, which is special. The weather may be the biggest challenge, but we ran in the rain during our test here Tuesday, which was good as it was our first time in the rain with the McLaren 650S GT3. Lime Rock is unique…it is all right turns with the exception of one corner. It requires a different type of setup, one that requires the car to turn right better than left…similar in some ways to oval racing. It’s a short lap which allows a lot of laps and that is good for us. We are coming off of a very difficult weekend at Mosport. We always arrive with the intention of winning, but we are also approaching the weekend similar to a test as we make sure we have a platform to improve and go forward from here on out.”
