Fast Facts:

Momentum: Coming off their best race weekend of the season at Circuit of The Americas just two weeks ago, GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing plans to carry that momentum into Sonoma.  The GAINSCO team scored their first podium of the season when Jon Fogarty and Wolf Henzler finished third in the first SprintX race and followed it up with another top ten on Sunday.

Familiar Territory: A native of the Bay Area and former resident of Marin County, 2x Sports Car Champion Jon Fogarty returns to California for the final race of the season this weekend.  Fogarty is no stranger to Sonoma Raceway; he’s completed more laps there than any other track during his four-time championship winning career.

Lucky 13: GAINSCO Auto Insurance and Bob Stallings Racing head into their 13th year of competition in 2018.  Sunday’s race will be the 144th together, marking it one of the longest active partnerships in motorsports.

Jon Fogarty: “It’s always nice to come home to Northern California.  It’s been a humbling season and I am sorry to see it end.  We made big gains with the car at COTA and I wish we had more of the season left to compete with it now that The Red Dragon® is back in the action.  I’ve got to thank Bob and Linda Stallings, GAINSCO Auto Insurance, and my crew for another season of hard work and commitment and I’m looking forward to another good result this weekend.”

Bob Stallings, Team Owner: “I am not looking forward to the end of the season, because we love racing and the chance to compete, but we are always excited about racing in Sonoma. It’s a very fast track and our team has experienced many victories at this storied circuit. Jon Fogarty has been prolific in qualifying on the pole at Sonoma and the team has won some very important races here. As is always the case in PWC, qualifying up front is very important. The races are very short, the cars are reasonably equal in pace, and unrestrained desperate drivers risk everything to gain advantage in the first turn. The resulting carnage often has a great impact on the outcome of the race. I have a good feeling about this race though. We seem to have found some pace and have become close to the sweet spot in setup for our car. Jon knows he track well and since it is very close to his childhood home, he will have extra juice inside to have a good showing. The crowds are usually filled with sports car racing fans who really enjoy seeing these great cars compete for a win in Sonoma. The Red Dragon attracts more than a handful of fans who have followed the team through the years and we look forward to seeing them for the final race of the season.”
