About GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing

Are You Driven?®

Are You Driven?®

Dallas-based GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing is a two-time Team and Driver Champion of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and one of the most successful teams in American auto racing today. Competing in the top-tier Daytona Prototype division, GAINSCO’s goal in the 2012 GRAND-AM Rolex Series is nothing short of winning its third team and driver titles.

GAINSCO’s lead drivers, Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty, were the first Daytona Prototype teammates to win two GRAND-AM Rolex Series Championships and remain one of the most successful driving duos in Daytona Prototype history with 15 career victories. In just its second full year of competition – and the first full season for Gurney and Fogarty as teammates – GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing won the 2007 Rolex Series Team and Driver Championships with a record-setting performance that saw victories in half of the year’s 14 races and front-row starts at every race, including 10 pole positions.

After finishing a close second in the 2008 season standings, GAINSCO and its drivers rallied to win a second set of Rolex Series Team and Driver titles in 2009, leading the series with four wins and six poles in the season’s 12 races. The team scored a third-place finish in both the 2010 and 2011 Rolex Series Team standings.

Since GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing entered Rolex Series competition in mid-2005, primary sponsor GAINSCO Auto Insurance and Bob Stallings Racing have been synonymous in success. GAINSCO’s rapid growth as a company can be attributed in part to its trademarked “Are You Driven?®” marketing campaign that uses the championship-winning Rolex Series racing team and the No. 99 “Red Dragon” Daytona Prototype as its main brand and focal point.

The 2012 championship campaign will see Gurney and Fogarty compete in an all new Corvette Daytona Prototype, the latest version of the No. 99 “Red Dragon,” and the most advanced and sophisticated Daytona Prototype race car ever built. Veteran road racer Memo Gidley will co-drive with Gurney and Fogarty in the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona while five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson, a frequent GAINSCO teammate since 2008, may also race with the team later in the season if his busy schedule allows. Returning team personnel include Team Manager Terry Wilbert and Crew Chief Link Smith, each of whom has been with GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing since 2007 or before.

Are You Driven? Everyone at GAINSCO Auto Insurance and GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing is as they work together again in 2012 in pursuit of more championship perfection.
