The summer is in full effect, and we turned up the heat at the latest GAINSCO Auto Insurance® show car circuit. The weather is ramping up this year, seasoning the show car program and preparing us to cook up some fun!

First up, was a familiar place in Savannah, TN, aptly named Savannah Insurance They had a show car event in 2017. The area is now, covered by Kayla Porter, the Tennessee East Territory Manager. Kayla is the new face to fill the freshly created role at GAINSCO, which will help bring more interaction to the territory and better serve our partner agents. After her first show car event, Kayla and I headed to the Professional Insurance Agents convention in Tennessee, to meet up with some more familiar faces. Jose Mimoso, Field Sales Director, and Justin Robinson, Sales Manager were at the convention to introduce Kayla and Derek King as the state’s newest GAINSCO TMs. Derek moves over from South Carolina, and is now the TN West TM, he was excited to serve up a few show car events in his new territory.

Justin Robinson, who exudes GAINSCO’s Championship Characteristics, put in some serious highway miles to follow me over to Virginia to handle the next leg of the circuit. A fellow road warrior and man after my own heart had his family in tow. He worked it out with his family so they could spend quality time on a summer road trip that just so happened to involve some show car fun. We met up in Fredericksburg, VA to team up with veteran producer and show car aficionado, D&L Insurance. D&L has hosted a handful of events and is continually looking to improve, by thinking of ways to maximize a show car event. They certainly lit the fuse at the 2019 Spotsylvania Stars and Stripes Spectacular. The Red Dragon was used to feature D&L at the all-day family festival (pictured above) in the interactive automobile area. The event culminated with an Independence Day firework show that surely would have been a sight to behold. However, we had back-to-back events scheduled and had to get on the road. The show car circuit wrapped up in Richmond, VA on a Sunday, with Latinos Services. They hired a DJ, cooked up some delectable Latin hot dogs, raffled off a flat-screen TV, and had a bounce house that all the kids enjoyed!

TM Kayla Porter, gets the tour of the Red Dragon from my son at her first show car event with the guys at Savannah Insurance in Savannah, TN.

Embracing the racing lifestyle with Hooper Insurance in Cleveland, TN as nearly everybody who stopped for a photo with the car, wore our race suits.

GAINSCO was front and center with our No.99 race car in the middle of the PIA TN trade show floor. It helped in announcing the new Tennessee TMs.

After just two Virginia show car events, Sales Manager Justin Robinson’s kids were pros, helping to setup and breakdown at Latinos Services in Richmond, VA.

Sweet Rides

Pint-sized demolition racing with Traxxas Slash 1/10th scale Short Course RC Trucks at the Spotsylvania Stars and Stripes Spectacular. The kids loved racing them.

Setup next to D&L Insurance on “race car row” at the Stars and Stripes Spectacular were a couple of really fun looking rubbed and raced Mini-Stock Cars. My son loved the “beat up” look.

Good Eats

A few miles from the PIA TN convention we found Mack’s Hot chicken in Smyrna, TN. Hot Chicken is a local iconic Nashville treat. It’s so hot, but so juicy and delicious!

At our last event of the show car circuit, with Latinos Services in Richmond, VA, we were treated to what is called Shucos! It’s a Guatemalan, Latin-style hot dog served with cooked veggies, guacamole and mayo!

A show car event nearby brought us to Chattanooga, TN, which we are fond of exploring. This trip we visited the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum and even took a steam powered train ride on the Missionary Ridge Local, one of their many “moving museums.”

At the tail end of the circuit, we added one more stop to the family summer beach tour. Braving the traffic from Richmond, VA down to Virginia Beach for a day trip. We played ‘til the sun went down; then played a little more!
